Amazon Boxing Day and January sales 2020: what we expect to see

Amazon Boxing Day and January sales The best deals you can buy now When will Amazon's Boxing Day sale begin? What to expect from ...

Amazon's Boxing Day and January sales are the next round of deals to have your eye on for any discounts you missed out on this year. With Echo devices, Samsung tablets, iPads, MacBooks, laptops and 4K TVs all receiving significant price cuts during the November sales and into December, we're expecting to see some of the best Amazon Boxing Day sale deals ever this year.

Traditionally, the best Boxing Day sales start on December 26. However, we've seen retailers launch their Boxing Day events early in the past - sometimes before Christmas - and there's every chance the Amazon Boxing Day sale could start before Saturday 26 (when it does, you'll find the best deals here).

After all, Amazon has previous on this front. The company ripped up the sales rulebook earlier this year by launching its Black Friday deals in mid October, straight after its annual Prime Day sale. In doing so, Amazon forced other UK retailers to go early with their offers too.

And the price cuts at Amazon in the last few months have been big. Many of the deals in last year's Amazon Boxing Day and January sales have been beaten already, which means not only are you likely to find slightly cheaper prices this Christmas, but in many cases - including TVs and laptops - there are now newer models on offer as well, giving you access to new features for less.

Below, you'll find all our predictions for the hottest items in the Amazon Boxing Day sales, based on what we saw last year and the offers we've seen so far in 2020. Once the sale launches, we'll round up all the best deals here on this page.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of excellent discounts already live in Amazon's Last Minute Christmas sale, so if you can't wait until Boxing Day, have a browse of our top picks you can buy now.

The best deals in the Amazon sale before Boxing Day

When will the Amazon Boxing Day sale begin in 2020?

Amazon Boxing Day sales traditionally kick off as you would expect, on December 26. However, this year we were seeing Black Friday offers as early as October and there are still excellent offers flying off the shelves right now.

Not only that, but in recent years, Amazon's Boxing Day sales have started as soon as Christmas Eve. That means we would keep a close eye over the entire Christmas week, and it's likely that those Boxing Day deals will merge into January sales in the week after as well.

What to expect from the Amazon Boxing Day and January sales?

Amazon has gone hard on its offers this year, to stay ahead of the increased online competition in 2020. That means you can expect big things from the Amazon Boxing Day and January sales this year, but there are some products you can rely on a little more.

Echo and Fire devices always see discounts over big sales periods like this. With the 4th generation now on the shelves (and seeing their own deals over the November event), those prices are dropping even further than you might expect as well.

Amazon is also usually an excellent place to find deals on TVs, headphones, and wearables in particular, with the retailer holding leading price drops on everything from LG OLED TVs to the Apple Watch and Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones so far in 2020.

How long will Amazon's Boxing Day sale last?

Amazon's Boxing Day sales usually taper off a couple of days after Christmas, but you won't be short of discounts in limbo week. The January sales pick up right where Boxing Day left off, often with the same products discounted as well.

Amazon Boxing Day and January sales from last year

Philips Ambilight 43-inch 4K Smart TV: £549 £389 at Amazon
You could bag yourself a 4K TV bargain during last year's Boxing Day sales with the 43-inch Philips 43PUS7304. It comes with 3-sided Ambilight, support for Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and HDR10+, plus the Google voice Assistant is built in too.

Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen): £34.99 £24.99 at Amazon
The last-gen Echo Dot is no longer the latest in the line of products from Amazon, but this was a decent discount. We've seen this model going for £18.99 since then, however, so prices will likely be a little lower this year.

Amazon Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote: £39.99 £29.99 at Amazon
Need a way to make your TV smart? The Amazon Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote is the perfect way to do so, and this deal cut 25% off the price.

Amazon Fire 7: £49.99 £34.99 at Amazon
Want a tablet, but just need something that is basic and affordable? Amazon's Fire 7 range took a solid discount, here, though we've seen it drop cheaper so far in 2020.

Amazon Echo Show 5: £79.99 £49.99 at Amazon
The Echo Show 5 is the best way to be able to interact with Amazon's Alexa voice assistant in a speaker that allows for a screen to show you certain elements. We've seen this model drop down to £39.99 so far in 2020, so there might be some improvement on this £50 sales price from last year.

Amazon Fire HD 8 (2018): £79.99 £59.99 at Amazon
The Fire HD 8 is a cheap tablet that's small enough to take everywhere and an ideal way to consume Amazon content. We've seen it even cheaper this year as well.

PlayStation VR Mega Pack with five games: £271.49 £209.99 at Amazon
You could get a VR headset and five decent games to play it on with this Boxing Day PSVR deal last year. That includes Skyrim in VR and Resident Evil 7, as well Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, widely considered among the best VR games around. We haven't seen too many price cuts hit this position so far in 2020, so this is one to watch out for.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate 3 month membership code: £32.99 £15.99 at Amazon
Normally £10.99 per month if you're subscribed, this offer got you three months of the best games-on-demand service around for around half the price. Play games like The Outer Worlds and Halo: The Master Chief Collection to your heart's content.

Fitbit Charge 3: £129.99 £94.99 at Amazon
Before the Charge 4, this was one of the best Fitbits on the market, and with a £94.99 price tag it sold fast over the Boxing Day / January sales period. Now that the new model is on the shelves, we've been seeing this price a lot more and it may even drop further later in the month.

Apple Watch 4: 40mm | GPS + Cellular | White Sport Band | £699 £408.85 at Amazon
The Apple Watch 4 has now been discontinued, but last year you could save nearly £300 on the GPS and Cellular model. That bodes particularly well for the Apple Watch 5, and we've already seen discounts starting to hit the SE and Series 6 as well.

Apple Airpods (2019) with wireless charging case: £199 £159 at Amazon
We've seen this £159 price on the AirPods all year round now, with retailers rarely dropping below that position. It's likely that this will be the same figure we'll see in 2020, though keep an eye out for a flash sale.

Jabra Elite Active 65t: £169.99 £131.18 at Amazon
Amazon's Boxing Day Sales usually have a distinctly fitness-themed slant, and that was certainly the case last year. A range of colour options are discounted, but blue was a bit cheaper.

Lenovo IdeaPad S145: £299.99 £249.99 at Amazon
The Lenovo IdeaPad is a decent budget laptop, with some impressive features (and some corners cut too, of course). It was a fairly robust for a device this price, and has a nice big screen, but the battery life and screen resolution could be better.

Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 with 10 shots: £74.99 £54.99 at Amazon
This is a beginner-friendly price for the Instax Mini 9, which is our number one instant camera. You get a 10-shot mini film pack, and the camera has a flash capability, exposure control, and the capability to take selfies and close-ups.

Sony Bravia KDL32WE613BU (32-Inch) HD Ready HDR Smart TV: £349 £199 at Amazon
This is an affordable TV deal that'll get you a decent 32-inch TV for £150 off. It's a smart TV, and while it's not 4K, it's still HDR, so you'll get a fine looking picture. At £199 this was a decent price last year, especially for a brand like Sony.

Samsung 55-inch RU7400 Dynamic Crystal Colour HDR Smart 4K TV: £699 £499 at Amazon
You could save £200 on this 55-inch Samsung TV, an older generation than the displays we're seeing at a similar price right now. That means you'll likely be able to beat that cost this year and bag some extra features as well.

LG 55-inch B9 OLED TV (2019): £1,799.99 £1,079 at Amazon
The LG B9 is now discontinued, replaced by the 2020 LG BX OLED. The good news, however, is that we're seeing similar prices on the new generation already this year - which means better value for money for those who held out all those months.
