Pokémon Detective Pikachu

Passion for Pokémon knows no bounds and with Deadpool's Ryan Reynolds lending his voice to Pikachu, it's bound to get even bigger. Detective Pikachu teams up with Tim Goodman, a former Pokémon Trainer as he hunts for his lost father. As the pair investigate they unravel a plot that threatens the entire Pokémon universe.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

One of Reeve's best characters to date - John Wick from the Dynamite Entertainment comic book series - is back and bloodier than ever. The trilogy ends with this last chapter, so expect fireworks.
Aladdin

- Stars: Mena Massoud, Will Smith, Naomi Scott
Disney continues the live-action remakes of its animated movie classics with Guy Ritchie's take on Aladdin. There has been much hype in the build-up, specifically over Will Smith's portrayal of the genie and his blue skin, but the original was blue too, so not entirely sure what the problem is there.
Rocketman

- Stars: Taron Egerton, Richard Madden, Jamie Bell
Taron Egerton stars in this biopic about British pop icon Elton John. It follows the story of John's life, spanning through his time as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music up until he becomes one of the biggest influences in music worldwide.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
- UK release date: 29 May 2019

- Stars: Millie Bobby Brown, Charles Dance, Vera Farmiga
Godzilla: King of the Monsters is the sequel to 2014's Godzilla and the 35th film in the franchise. This latest outing introduces some of the infamous other titans from the cult Japanese movies, including Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah. Humanity's very existence is hanging in the balance.
Dark Phoenix

The latest instalment in the X-Men movie franchise (and presumably the last outside of the MCU now that Disney has acquired 20th Century Fox) has the team face their deadliest foe yet - in the form of teammate Jean Grey.
Men in Black: International

The Men in Black are back. No sign of Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones but don't worry, this new outing is set to be a blast. In Men in Black: International there's a mole in the organisation causing problems and, of course, the entire planet is at risk.

Three generations of the man who would risk his neck for his brother, man team for a murder investigation, after the youngest of the trio, played by Jessie T Usher, enlists the help of Samuel L Jackson and Richard Roundtree.
Toy Story 4

Your favourite talking toys return in an all-new big-screen adventure that the entire family will love. Woody, Buzz and company are united once again, hurrah.
Child's Play

Like Toy Story 4, this horror remake also features a toy that comes to life, but you wouldn't want your kids to see it. This time around, Luke Skywalker himself voices Chucky which, considering his awesome work on animated Joker voice overs, could end up being the creepiest version yet.
Spider-Man: Far from Home

Uber driver Stu (yep, that's where the name comes from) gets more than a surge fare when detective Vic (Bautista) gets into his cab. Cue hilarity and a Guardians of the Galaxy reunion for the ex-WWE superstar and Karen Gillen.
The Lion King

- Stars: Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Beyonce
A photorealistic, computer animated, live-action remake of the Disney classic might not be needed, but it's coming anyway and looking spectacular. We can't wait to see what Seth Rogen does with Pumbaa and James Earl Jones will no doubt be incredible as he once again voices Mufasa.
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw

Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams stars in an X-Men offshoot that is much more adult in tone, even though it features a new, younger superhero team. Indeed, it could even fall into the horror category.
Artemis Fowl
- UK release date: 9 August 2019

- Stars: Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Judi Dench
Based on the science fiction novels by Eoin Colfer, Disney will be hoping this big screen adaptation becomes its own Harry Potter series. Ferdia Shaw plays Artemis Fowl II, a 12-year-old criminal mastermind who kidnaps a fairy and holds her to ransom in order to restore his family fortune.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
- UK release date: 14 August 2019
- Director(s): Quentin Tarantino
- Stars: Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie
Tarantino's 9th and, reportedly, last major film is set in LA at the tail end of the 60s and stars an incredible cast. And, while there is plenty of the director's trademark clever wordplay and comedic banter on show, it will also deal with the darker undertones provided by the rise of Charles Manson and his murderous cult.
Downton Abbey

- Stars: Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern
The original Downton Abbey cast return for a big-screen version of the hugely successful TV show. It's hardly a genre film, like many others in this list, but Pocket-lint's editor loved the series so there you go.
Joker
- UK release date: 4 October 2019

- Stars: Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz
Batman's deadliest foe gets his own film at last - an origin story with Joaquin Phoenix taking over the role. From what we've seen so far, it will be darker in tone than many comic book adaptations around, with The King of Comedy and Taxi Driver as clear inspirations. Not surprising as it also stars Robert De Niro and has Scorsese as an executive producer.
The Angry Birds Movie 2
- UK release date: 4 October 2019

- Stars: Peter Dinklage, Awkwafina, Bill Hader
The Angry Birds are back for their second big-screen outing, unsurprising considering how well received the first was. We especially love the tagline for this latest effort: "This summer, winter is coming" - undoubtedly a reference to the fact it now stars Tyrion Lannister himself, Peter Dinklage. It's worth noting, however, that the current listed UK release date of October is a long way from when it hits US theatres on 16 August.
Gemini Man

Will Smith stars alongside, er, Will Smith as an older assassin faces a new foe - a younger, cloned version of himself.
The Addams Family

- Stars: Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Oscar Isaac
Still creepy and kooky, but now fully animated, The Addams Family return to theatres with Charlize Theron taking on Morticia Addams' voice duties.
Frozen II

- Stars: Kristin Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad
After the huge box office success of the first Frozen, Disney was never going to let it go! The sequel will reunite Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf for an all-new adventure - this time not based on an existing fairy tale.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

So the latest trilogy will come to an end. And is that the supposedly deceased Emperor's voice we hear at the end of the teaser trailer?
Sonic The Hedgehog
- UK release date: 26 December 2019

- Stars: Ben Schwartz, Jim Carrey, James Marsden
Due in November in the US, but not until December in the UK, the Sonic The Hedgehog movie has already garnered controversy for the character model shown in the first full trailer. Fans believed that the eyes are too small and Sonic's human-like teeth were just darn scary. The backlash prompted director Jeff Fowler to tweet that the character design will change before full release.
